Device Protection
Device Protection Fee (DPF) is an optional non-refundable insurance for student's district-issued devices. The coverage is completely optional and is not required to be issued a device. If a parent/guardian chooses not to pay the protection fee and the student is issued a classroom or home-use device, they accept full financial responsibility for any damages to the district-issued device or peripherals. Additionally, they may be liable for damages resulting from loss or theft.
Coverage includes one instance of accidental damage per issuance. Additional coverage may be purchased when a new device is issued or the repaired device is returned. The DPF covers the following: accidental damage (beyond repair), stolen device (with police report), damaged screen and keyboard.
The following items are not covered: power charger, lost device, intentional damage (damage that is intentional is the responsibility of the parent/guardian).
If a protection fee is not in effect, repairs must be paid in full before a replacement device will be issued for take home use. A loaner device will be available for courses requiring technology access.
